The Great Commission is Our Mission!
Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in£ the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to
obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Hello My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

My name is Robert Heard and I am a Pastor who is currently serving God in middle Tennessee. My wife and I have been in the
ministry for more than fifteen years and have been blessed with three beautiful children. In the last decade and a half we have faithfully
and passionately ministered in churches of many Christian denominations from all across the United States to all age groups including
children, teenagers, young adults and seniors.

The platform in which we have presented the Gospel and discipleship education consisted of church congregations, youth camps,
conference centers, sports stadiums, city streets and alleys, jails, missions and even soup kitchens. We have opened our home to other
families for small group studies and of course have done everything in our power to teach our own children how we (mankind) are
loved by Christ. Despite all of this, there was a time when we still felt that we lacked the full understanding of what God wanted to
accomplish through us for His Glory.

Over the last decade and a half, I have spent a tremendous amount of time in prayer and reading books by great pastors, teachers and
evangelist such as Charles Swindoll, James Dobson, Charles Stanley, Tony Evans, Max Lucado, Billy Graham and many, many more.
We took Seminary classes and sat through long seminars and outreach programs of all kinds.

Our education in the Word of God of course kept growing, but our understanding on how to apply such knowledge to new Believers,
was becoming more and more clouded. It was not until we took a moment to pause and then went back to the basics, the very
beginning of our own relationship with Christ that three simple truths became the source of discernment we were looking for.

The first truth was that we needed to understand who we are to God. In other words, does God see us as sinners, who are unholy and
fallen from Grace? Or does He see His child saved by Grace and made righteous by the blood of His Son Jesus the Christ. Knowing
how we stand at judgment guilty or blameless gives us a wonderful foundation to start our journey as disciples.

The second principle is simply accepting where we fit in this world as Believers in Christ. If we are like everyone else, then it is easy to
blend in and become part of the crowd. However, as we mature and begin to stand out among the world around us, adapting becomes
more and more irrelevant. Let me quickly add that standing out does not necessarily mean standing above.

Finally, we realized that there is a difference in knowing what God wants us to do and in putting His Commission to action by using the
gifts and tools He has given all Believers so that they can add their own unique contribution to His Kingdom.

Throughout this study we will discuss in more detail these three simple truths along with six ways in which Believers should walk which
summarizes how to live righteously. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:21-25(a)

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law    and the Prophets testify. This
righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a
sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

Living a righteous life is all about having a personal relationship with God. As Christians mature they are able to look back at their own
lives and take note of the events that had either almost instantaneously or eventually strengthen their relationship with Christ. Many of
these occurrences we count as victories, while others we may have consider them as failures. Whichever they may be to you, this day
by day growing relationship with Him is what I call our “Reflection Walk”.

The six ways in which we should walk are given to us through scripture and are as follows-
1.        In the Light
2.        By faith
3.        In love
4.        As children of Light
5.        By the Spirit
6.        In newness of Life

This PowerPoint presentation is offered here on this website free of charge. To view it you must have Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, in
which you can download from Microsoft here and here for free as well. (Please note that we are not responsible for any recourse from
downloading from Microsoft).

This discipleship study can be used on an individual basis or in a group setting. And as they become available we will post a
corresponding “Reflection Walk” daily journal and work book to help you with this study.

My wife and I have been serving the Lord as teachers and ministers to both teens and adults for more than 15 years now. The Doctrine
we teach in this Discipleship Program is Scriptural and therefore, it is not Denominational bound. We believe that the Word of God is
God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly
equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16 &17)

This Discipleship study uses illustrations and everyday situations to help us understand how the Bible is relevant to us today. We
sincerely hope that you enjoy this series and that in some way it may help you through this journey God has given us. If you have any
question please do not hesitate to email me at
robertgheard@yahoo.com. We are commissioned by God to make disciples (Matthew
28:18-20) and this is just one way that we hope to reach all nations.
