Miles for Smiles

Every year more and more congregations are using a pictorial church directory to help build community
and unity within the congregation. Pictorial church directories are a comfortable way for members to
associate names with faces. They are also a very useful tool for visitation programs and prayer ministries.

Pastor Robert Heard is a professional photographer who has also been teaching discipleship studies for
more than 15 years. He is the author of the "
Reflection Walk" series and co-founder of Open Door Ministries
and MissionsMall.org. He is also the Senior Pastor and CPC Hillsboro Church in Middle Tennessee.

Miles for Smiles is a program designed by Robert to help churches all across the United States to disciple
believers while creating a pictorial church directory.

Program Overview- Robert and his family will come to your congregation to teach the Reflection Walk
discipleship study in person. This Discipleship study uses illustrations and everyday situations to help us
understand how the Bible is relevant to us today. We are commissioned by God to make disciples
(Matthew 28:18-20) and this is just one way that we hope to reach all nations by starting with ours.

While there, we work around your schedules to set up our professional photography equipment and
photograph the families in the church for the directory. The details are different for each churches needs.
However, for most congregations a tentative schedule of photography sessions are arranged through the 4 to
5 day duration of the discipleship study. The amount of days we stay depend on the needs of the group.

We get a mileage allowance and love offering to cover the expense to get there and back. While we there,
all we need is a place to sleep at night and provisions for 1 meal a day.

We are very efficient tent campers especially in cooler summer climates. We may have been raised in the
Texas heat, but the heat was a BIG reason we did not stay. We have children, therefore, a tent in the winter
would not be a good idea for all of our sakes.

Are you ready to begin your Reflection Walk?

2. Housing

4. Materials

What is the Mileage Allowance

We are not trying to make a profit
with this ministry, however, we will need help paying for our
transportation to get to where the presentations will be held. To do this we looked at the amount that the
IRS says to be paid for travel expenses for non profit and business trips.

Business is figured at least .84 a mile and non profit is .18. In order to cover our expenses we ask for $0.50
(figure in one direction) a mile to cover both ways.

How to figure our Mileage Allowance.-

In the map below we have provided a marker showing the town in which we live. Above the marker is a
dialog balloon with "Manchester, TN" listed as the address. Click on the "Directions" link and you will be
forwarded from this page to a Google Maps page. This new page will have a map on the right side and a text
field on the left. The blank text field to the right of the letter "A"  is where you type in the address that the
Training Seminars will be hosted from. Make sure "by car" is highlighted in the drop down menu and click
on "Get Directions". Google Maps will give you a suggested route, along with the mileage and time that it
would take. Take their suggested mileage and multiply it by $0.50 and you will have our allowance.

Once again you only count the mileage for one way and multiply it by the $0.50.
Housing- Where we stay while we are there is mostly up to you. We have very few restrictions.

Meals-

Materials-
Once a date is set for the Training Seminar and the deposit is received, we begin the process of providing your
congregation the materials needed for the classes.
